Dr. Breanne Everett named one of Women’s Executive Network 2018 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner

Dr. Breanne Everett joins community of Canada’s most iconic women leaders

Toronto, ON, Canada, November 22, 2018  – Orpyx Medical Technologies Inc. (“Orpyx”) is proud to announce its CEO & President, Dr. Breanne Everett has been named a Women’s Executive Network (WXN) 2018 Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100 Award Winner presented by KPMG.

The list of Top 100 Winners was released today, paying tribute to the outstanding women across Canada who have advocated for diversity in the workforce, and who serve as an inspiration for the next generation of leaders.

During her residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Everett was regularly involved in the care of patients with diabetes requiring advanced wound care for foot complications, and in many cases, surgical amputation of their feet and limbs. She saw a better way and wanted to build a healthier future where something as simple as a small wound on the foot wouldn’t have to proceed to loss of a limb. In 2012, Dr. Everett took a leave of absence from her residency, founding Orpyx with the vision of creating a device that could be used to prevent and treat these dreaded complications of diabetes, while simultaneously earning her MBA though Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.

Dr. Everett rapidly assembled and inspired a world class team to execute on that vision, pioneering a solution with the development of multiple patent families related to new medical technologies in the emerging fields of digital wound healing. Spearheading financing, clinical trials, and customer development, she paces the organization with relentless intensity.

“I am thrilled to receive the WXN Canada’s Most Powerful Women Top 100 Award. The WXN recognizes the great talent and skills of female leaders in Canada’s innovation economy, and I am truly honoured to be acknowledged alongside so many influential women in leadership and entrepreneurs.” said Dr. Everett.

“We are celebrating 100 of Canada’s highest achieving women in diverse fields,” said Sherri Stevens, CEO of WXN. “All 100 are role models for the generations who will follow – which is why it’s very important to recognize and celebrate their great achievements,” Mrs. Stevens concluded.

The Top 100 Awards span the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, with the initial candidates selected by WXN’s Diversity Council. The final vetting process for the 2018 Top 100 Award Winners was completed by WXN’s 2017-2018 Diversity Champions.

Dr. Everett joins a prestigious community of past Award Winners including Canada’s most iconic women trailblazers: Margaret Atwood, best-selling author, Dr. Roberta Bondar, astronaut, Arlene Dickinson, chief executive officer, Venture Communications, Christine Magee, president, Sleep Country Canada, Michaëlle Jean, former governor general of Canada, Heather Reisman, founder and CEO, Indigo Books & Music, and Kathleen Taylor, chair of the board, Royal Bank of Canada.
